I here ya on the long bed. Ive had both since '78 and for pulling 5th wheels since '92 and the long beds do eliminate a lot of hassle. Unfortunately, a long bed crew cab will not fit in my garage with sufficient clearance to walk around. The SuperGlide has been pretty much hassle free except for the extra weight when installing & removing the hitch and the occasional instance where it would be easier to hitch or unhitch while not being lined up with the trailer.
