Didn't read all the post so not sure if this was already stated but only liability is covered automatically when attached to the truck. If you want collision or comprehensive coverage, it must be listed on the policy. Say for instance you are hit from behind or sideswiped causing damage to your trailer and the person who hit you was either uninsured or underinsured...you have no coverage for your damage if you don't have collision coverage or at least uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If you are at fault in any accident and your trailer is damaged, again you have no coverage for the trailer if you don't have collision coverage.
