- WyoTravelerExplorerI have to give Marcus credit for allowing the GS forum members to voice their opinion about GS. Not sure it helps him. Since Marcus took over CW and GS I no longer shop at CW. I droppwd GSERS. Dropped my subscription to MH magazine. Next will to be dropping GS insurance. I do think Marcus has a plan for making money for investors. However, companies still have to be competitive. I think his plan may be working at the moment but not sure how long it can operate taking advantage of RVers. Each RVer has to decide for theirselves what works for them. For me on a 5 month MH vacation and saving less then my membership fees doesn't work. Maybe others feel they get more value. I say if that is the case go for it. JMHO
- DutchmenSportExplorerThe bottom line is, the more successful someone becomes, the more praises and the more criticism they get. It reaches a point where comments become "public domain". Good, bad, or indifferent, it's hard being at the top! Thank-goodness there can only be "one" at the tip. I don't think "everyone" could be there and do it! It takes a special person to withstand all the bullet shots! When I see articles such as this, I just can't help but think what personal vendetta does the writer have. It also makes me wonder what kind of stunts the writers of such articles have done themselves. You know, it's in the Bible, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone." As I recall, there was only one person ever on planet earth that filled those shoes, and he did not cast stones!

Last year I had a web order that turned into a fiasco. First the local CW store would not accept the return (contrary to policy). Then the nice online Customer Service folks issued a merchandise discount certificate that required me to pay full price on my next purchase, then call them and have them issue a credit on the back-end of the deal.
And a couple of months ago I visited my local store just because of their regularly mailed promotions and asked for the location of the advertised item I wanted. I was told they did not stock that item and they run into that type of issue all the time.
I could go on, but I get more benefit than not from being a Good Sam member (and having a store in my hometown). So I'll enjoy the good while hoping they clean up their operational stuff sometime soon. - westernrvparkowExplorer

It is obvious there is an axe being ground here. But the author is not upfront enough to come clean and give the reader the benefit of stating his bias upfront.

- westernrvparkowExplorerSounds like that author had the same conversation I have had with my competitors. We can work together (preferred) or we can work against each other. If they chose against, they can bet I will be as ruthless as possible. Thankfully, everyone in the RV park business I know are friendly competitors. While we don't share every secret, we do work together.
An example you ask? Last year myself and two other parks went together on a dust control project. I had the largest park and would have had a better rate on an individual basis than had the other parks gone it alone or even the two of them together, but with all three of us combining our project we got a cost that none of us could have achieved alone. But if one of those parks had said, "no I am not working with you no matter what", I still would have done the dust control and either had a financial advantage over that holdout or had a quality benefit (dust treated vs not dust treated) that I would have exploited to the fullest. - Dog_FolksExplorer
