Will be travelling from VA to Disney in a week. Question, I prefer to not stop at Flying J's/Love's due to higher cost. When the interstate signs at an Exxon/Shell/BP have the word diesel above their sign is that typically that they just sell diesel at the normal gas pump island and don't have a dedicated truck lane that sells diesel? tks

Hard to say. It could be rv friendly or not. We use the Next Exit guide which, I believe, has an app. We use the book, ordered off Amazon. It gives you info on every exit off a major interstate or highway and if it's rv friendly it's printed in red.

From my experience unless they are truly a truck stop they typically do not have separate lanes. And ease of entry/exit varies. A lot. I also avoid truck stops unless necessary. When needing diesel in an unfamiliar area on an interstate I look for an exit with a sign indicating two or more name brand stations giving me option on selecting what appears to be the easiest in/out.

Install the Gas Buddy app on your phone. You can select 'Diesel' and it will show the diesel stations near you or you can enter a city/town that you will be passing thru and it will show whether the stations in that area have diesel.

You are going to Disney and don't like high cost?They are now charging for overnight parking at their hotels. :(Flying J's RV Islands with Good Sam 8¢ discount and Visa card with another 3% discount make stopping there not outrageous. Plus after fueling, park and go inside the Denny's with a AARP card 15% discount. :)Rather pay a little extra for fuel then get stuck in a Mom & Pop station being hard to get in or out of. Good Luck

Some of us have co pilots that know how to work smart phones and read maps, I can follow directions. Diesel p/u since 1999 & 750K driving as owner operator commercially and I know how to trip plan.

I know hours ahead of time when I’m going to need gas, food or a rest break. No need to do anything but listen to instructions and read billboards if I’m driving solo.

The DW / navigator uses the apps, GPS and does the research while drive.

Who has the time to do all the research while going do the road at 60 plus MPH. It could be called distracted driving using all those apps, gps's or books. I think those very few who have gotten bad fuel have just gotten pure dumb yuck. 14 years, 251K, coast to coast, all kinds of stations and no bad fuel. I will keep doing what I have done to date.

Current price spread on #2 Diesel 2.33-2.99 so it's more than a little at every stop.

With ONLY a Good Sam membership card.....and whatever credit card you have.....you will get 5 cents off gas and 8 off diesel (I think) by just following the prompts on the pump.

That is at the "regular" island pumps.

I think you have to go inside at the "truck" lanes to get that discount. Other discounts might be a few cents more and might work right at the truck pumps. I don't know about that 'cause I don't use diesel.

Well my experience is just with the diesel truck lanes. The RV Plus Card has more advantages in the truck lanes that what the GS card offers in the gas lanes.

This is not a 'Charge/Credit Card' per say. The balance on the account must be paid off each month. You will only get an email with an attached PDF document of your bill. You then need to go online and make a payment. The form of payment is an electronic draft from a checking account. Also since this isn't a charge card your activity is not reported to any credit auditing company i.e. Trans Union etc.

Depending on your credit you can get a limit of $1000 or $2000. That's a lot of fuel in one month. If you find you need more you can at anytime go online and do another payment. There is no fee for making a payment.

I've had this card since it was first offered 10 or 12 years ago. Anytime I've had a question it's been answered quickly through their 800 number. I have never been overcharge using this card or any fraudulent charges.

A lot of folks dislike this card, but personally I prefer using this card then carrying a couple of thousand dollars cash to pay fuel when we travel for months at a time.

I don' think anyone has mentioned that the discount is taken off the CASH price of fuel. So if you use some other credit card to pay for fuel you are typically getting a discount of 14/15 cents of the credit card price.

All the years using this I've found that typically even if Pilot/FlyingJ is a few cents higher then the station across the street. Using this card you will actually save more money at Pilot/FlyingJ.

When I am traveling the interstate I use the truck stops, for the convenience and for the break. Truck holds 29 gallons so not much savings. When I arrive I will refuel the next day after decoupling the 5vr. Main concern is with Height @13'2" I rather use the truck stops then worry about air conditioning unit.
