Sometimes yes, sometimes no. But, along the interstate, I've never had problems with my 59.5 foot rig getting in and out of conventional "gas" stations to fill up with diesel.
Sometimes you run into a fuel station that has the diesel pump located at a very bad position, off the side with no way to drive completely around the building. When that happens, I carefully analyze the situation to determine if I can back out or not. I don't mind back out at all. There have only been a very, very small handful of fuel stations that were difficult to navigate, to the point, I drove on. Most of those were in town though, with areas really too tight for 59 feet to navigate.
You've got to use your head, evaluate the station when you pull up to it, look it over, try to spot the pump where it's located and determine if you can do it or not. Your own driving skills also plays a big roll in your decision too.
I personally, do not like truck stops. I avoid them as much as possible. Except for the I-80 truck stop in Iowa, almost every one I've ever been too has dirty diesel bays, oil and diesel spilled everywhere, and are just about as unpleasant as they come.
In the end, it's all really a matter of your own driving skills if you want to navigate or not. But 99% (my own estimate) of them will be pretty easy.
It's for all those reasons I prefer a truck stops. If 99% of stations were easy access these threads would not come up.
I don't need to determine or evaluate anything. I know acces is good and I can just pull up to the pump.
If I have to put it in reverse hopefully I backing into my site. If I'm at a gas station using reverse. I made a huge mistake and chose the wrong station:M
I don't need to complete a RV driving rodeo just to save a few cents. I don't need to deal with any 4 wheelers and the drama they create at the pumps.The aggravation is not worth the so called savings.:(
As far as cleanliness, I'm fueling up not moving in.
