If tail-gaters knew diddlysquat about the physics involved in automobiles going down roads ... they'd stop the practice in a heartbeat.
Dangerous is not a big enough concept to describe it. Even if a slow RV (or "old person", or etc.) is ahead of you and making you super-enraged ... at least stay back from them aways until you can make your move.
