Years ago, before Ohio did away with the split-speed limit, many 55 mph trucks would pass a 53 mph truck, all within the limits of the law.
It was what one could call a silent protest. That PASS could take several minutes, and really upset the 65mph crowd that wanted to do 70+. YES IT WAS DONE ON PURPOSE---YES, I HAVE DONE IT.
You see.....that heavy truck, most likely will be doing 53 mph up hill no matter what the speed limit (he is just that heavy). However, that passing truck could quickly pass him at 65 mph if he was allowed to travel that fast. So, in a miny protest---they set the cruise at 55 mph and took FOREVER to pass.
Perfectly LEGAL; Not speeding, only in the left lane long enough to make the pass.
The only time I every heard of a trucker getting a ticket was in the Columbus area, where the protest equated to miles and miles of back-up. The trucker was ticketed for failing to pass in a timely manner, travelling in the left "passing" lane. They were on flat ground, side by side, both doing 55 mph. Not impeding traffic----because they were travelling at the legal speed limit.
My point. All this BS that you can get a ticket for doing the speed limit on a two-lane road, because you are holding up the speeders-----Bull Twinkies! Doing the speed limit is NOT, NEVER, CAN'T BE impeding traffic. The above trucker was ticketed for a PASSING violation----not a "DOING THE SPEED LIMIT" violation.
None of which has to do with the OP.
I enjoy two-lane roads (both with the Travel trailer and the tractor trailer). Both "rigs" I drive can handle the terrian, so I like getting off the beaten path and taking the little roads. When I am puttering at the speed limit (normally about 5 mph over) I could care less if I am holding up the guy that left late for work. If I do get in a situation were I can not safely travel the speed limit (normally a size thing, not a power thing) I will allow others by if I can safely do so.
