I have very seldom had vehicles behind me on any State or Federal road in Montana between Billings and Great falls. Namely because it has been flat and straight enough for them to pass safely. I have also driven from Glendive to Great Falls on 200 and experienced very little traffic at all. Montana's rules are about the same as here. We just have a lot more traffic here in the midwest. Not every semi will be pulling over when they are doing 55 in a 55 zone on a federal or state 2 lane road in my area for traffic behind them that they collected at a stop light miles back. For one there is no room and two they would get no where in a reasonable time.john&bet wrote:
From I read here most of you folk would want me to pull over if I am in front of a string of traffic that went thru a stop light 3 miles ago so they can go on even though all are spaced out as they should be and running at posted speed limit on a two lane road. I often encounter this half mile long string on my local US-50. As I see it some are not making sense.
Do as you wish, but be aware that in Montana (and some other states) if a Highway Patrol Officer sees you at the front of a long string of vehicles (4 or 5 or more), and you don't pull over and let them pass when it is safe to do so, you just might get a ticket!
That IS the law!
Good luck.
Like you, I have also driven in several states before I became an RV'er. May get to Montana next year to see family.
