High iron in our water supply is beginning to turn our toilet and other fixtures orange, plus it stinks to high heaven. No amount of flushing the plumbing is helping. This is our seasonal site, and this is the first year with this issue.
Is there a solution and/or filter that is recommended?
Yup, that can be a problem up here. Our neighbors installed a water softener to cut the iron taste. We went with a super water filter from Gulligan (SP) which worked. But when our well water level dropped due to the drought the filter sucked the well dry when cycling. So we got rid of it. Went with a filter which took out most of the smell and taste plus debris in the water. Regretfully I can still taste and smell it, but the DW is not bothered by it. Now we have installed a charcoal filter on the kitchen faucet which totally removes the taste and smell.
My advice is to install a charcoal filter(s) in the water line to remove the iron taste/particles. If you can try one of those RV water filters.
