Different perspective,
My family has had a cottage that is rented out by the week for the past 50 summers. Just one cottage on the water on a Gulf Island.
Generally it is booked by the same families the same weeks year after year. After 50 years we have some of the grandchildren of the first families coming now.
It is rare, but every could years a family has to cancel at the last minute. We always fill the weeks through a informal network of other cottage owners. But for the past 10 years the new guests have asked about a website.
One - Dad is 85 and does not even do email.
Two - There is no internet service available locally
Three - Dad does not want people stopping by to check out the property
Four - Why incur an unnecessary cost?
We have stayed in a small campground that was quite similar, most the families booked from one year to the next, you almost had to know the secret handshake to get a booking.
I have driven right past campgrounds with beautiful websites that do not bother to tell you they are right beside the train tracks.
But then we are more provincial park and forestry campground sort of people. I just need a nice big site with some privacy, a fire pit, a picnic table and a nice cool drink.
