- wanderingaimlesExplorerIn some states a person who is in possession of it for a year or more can declare it abandoned and gain a title that way. The state will check the VIN and try to see who if anyone was ever the titled owner, if none show up, then it may be done.
I had to do that with a jet ski trailer here in Va. - midnightsadieExplorer IIbest go to the dmv office and talk with them each state will be different. I,ve filed for lost titles on boats and got them .I,m in ohio.
- gboppExplorerIf you belong to AAA contact them, maybe they can help.

My advice is to listen to MidnightSadie.. - shelbyfvExplorerObviously varies from state to state. Post what state it's in and you'll get more relevant replies. Better yet, as mentioned above, check with DMV in the appropriate state.
- +1 for DMV inquiry before you part with your money.
- camperdaveExplorerThat's an interesting one. It's not a lost of missing title, but never been registered at all.
My guess is you'll have to somehow come up with the MSO from the manufacturer. - Dennis12ExplorerTalk to your DMV. I'll bet that the person that your purchasing it from, it will have to go in their name along with Paying the taxes on it. Then i would say they will issue a title. LIKE I SAID TALK TO YOUR DMV BEFORE EXCHANGING ANY MONIES.

That would be my guess as well. You need a COO or MSO to title anything the first time.
I bought a new car from a dealer that either didn't have, or lost the COO. Had to wait for a new one to be sent from the manufacturer before I could title and register the car.
