I would say keeping a roadside assistance policy of some brand is imperative. Nice when my truck quit outside of a town I was visiting and I was on the side of a mountain and no clue who could come. Limited cell sevice so internet on phone wasn't working. I called and they found a tow company. Once they identified company, I was able to call and beg for a quick pickup. having someone do the work of calling tow companies and finding someone for me, was well worth the cost. Add in the tow was included in my plan, and it was double worth it. The single tow would have been more than the annual fee for my plan.
