That is not actually true. we are traveling in Alaska and canada all summer. Allstays is the best app i have.
If you open the app when you have cell signal, it downloads the basic map, and the map will be there the next time you open it, signal or not.
Also, whether the map pops up or not, the camprounds, dump stations, Rest areas, walmarts, etc will always show up, as will the little blue dot that shows your location, making it easy to see what campgrounds etc are nearby, whether you have signal or not.
Love this app.
