That's what I am wondering, how old was the fuel in his tank before he had problems.
IOW, a fuel system problem would not surface two years later from buying contaminated gas once. The effects would be immediate and noticeable, especially if effecting the different parts of the fuel system.
If you did have contaminated gas and let it sit in the system for two years (in fact, any gas left for that long), you would have problems.
