Wedtend and Dodgeguy, please remember that I didn't mention the gas thing until asked BECAUSE this thread is not about that. This thread is about asking what might cover unrelated future problems.
But, since it is bothering you so much, I will clarify once again: We were on the middle of a trip. We stopped for gas. Exiting the station and going up the onramp, we started having problems. When we arrived at our destination the next day I took the van to a shop. All this is something that happened to me once upon a time and is only a little bit relevant to this thread.
OK, now I understand. You are relating a past event and using the gas problem as an example.
If you're looking for repair insurance, it is readily available from a number of agencies. I don't consider it to be a very efficient manner of covering vehicle repair costs but that is in the eye of the beholder.
