Exactly, seems very fair, just like coin laundry. Fine with me if there are coin-operated gates for everything - playgrounds, pools, putting green, dog walk, dump station. And site fees priced per foot, like boat slips are priced, with coin-operated meters for electricity like a European B&B. extra charge if you park a towed or tow vehicle.
Then you pay for precisely what you consume. Like checking a bag, getting a seat assignment or eating a snack on an airplane nowdays.
But that will never happen.
I often feel bad for tenters in bad weather, so I sure don't begrudge those young folks the cheaper site fee.
