- Big RV's usually go to the 50amp sites which typically are at a higher price.
- Tents usually go to a "rustic" section where there are no utilities or maybe a 15amp outlet and are not suitable for an RV due to being out of level or difficult to back into.
- Once the owner puts in a bath house, his costs are fixed. Doesn't matter who is using the bath house, he has to clean it regularly no matter what.
- Especially if there is no sewer hookup, many RV'ers use the bath house, so the premise that only the tenters use the shower is incorrect. Personally, I don't like cleaning the shower, so if they provide a nice clean shower, that's my preference.
- As others have said, the infrastructure costs to accomodate utilities at each site is primarily to service the RV's and the up front costs can be huge.
- There is marketing to consider. Tenters are typically young couples/families. They often have limited budgets. If you keep them happy, they come back with the big RV in future years and keep spending money at your campground.
