I've never had full hook up sites. Electric only. 95% of the time the DW and I will use the CG showers but almost always use the TT toilet, Mainly as a water saving measure.
What I have an issue with, is guests having to pay to visit. I can't speak for everyone, but if and when we have guests, they are not a drain on the campground. General maintenance and upkeep of the CG gets done whether my guests use the facilities or not. Most state parks I visit, have times during the day when the restrooms/showers get cleaned. They clan them whether 100 people use them that day or 2. Its not like they have to hire extra staff because i had a guest in the area stop and visit.
While I agree that guest shouldn’t be charged, they do add to the cost of operation and maintenance…
More people generate more garbage and cause more wear and tear on the CG and its facilities… I assume you do not tell your guest that they can’t go to the bathroom while they are there… weather they go to the bathhouse or in the camper it ends up being treated by the CG at some point… facilities are sized for expected use… higher use requires more or bigger facilities and higher maintenance cost… guest mean more vehicles and road maintenance… more people at any time mean more risk and more liability to the CG…
When you have guest you are creating a drain on the CG… granted its not a hemorrhage but a drain none the less… whether the drain is measurable in one instance is unimportant but the aggregate cost can be considerable to the CG….
I think you will also find guest cause more complaints for management to deal with… they are less likely to observe speed limits and other rules, either because they are not familiar with the rules or are not held accountable for them…
