Issue with supplimental braking system

I tow a 2011 Honda 2011 CR-V and use a Blue Ox Patriot Brake System. This system has to be pulled into the lighter outlet at least to setup I assume it requires power to function. The ignition key must be turned one position to keep the steering wheel from locking up while towing the Honda. The problem is that it drains my car battery to the point that it has to be recharged or jump started in order to disconnect it from the RV. Has anyone else seen this or know how to eliminate it.
  • How often do you start the engine and cycle the transmission?
There is a fuse you can pull for the radio and nav system.
  • In these situations you need to run a charge line from the MH to the towed vehicle to keep the battery charged while driving. It's really very common....
  • There are also instructions in the user manual on which fuse you need to pull or switch out to remove power from the entertainment system. That's a major power drain when the switch is on, and by pulling it (or better, using a cutout switch) you'll solve your problem.
