It was only a matter of time....

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — More than just a truck and trailer were reported stolen from a hotel parking lot in Kamloops, B.C., early Monday morning.

The thieves also made off with the owner, who was inside the trailer at the time of the theft.

The owner called police immediately to report the crime.

But RCMP Cpl. Cheryl Bush says officers had a difficult time finding the truck and trailer because the man didn’t know where he was.

The owner was eventually able to provide a landmark to help police pinpoint his location.

Mounties say the truck was found a short time later, and while the owner was OK, the suspect or suspects were long gone.

maybe not unless the thieves were aware that the trailer was occupied at the time of the theft. maybe that's why the bad guys scrammed...they realized that they were not alone.

    Kidnapping Definition

That definition is the US model of Kidnapping. But the victim in this thread was in British Columbia. Try this out of size:

Forcible Confinement. "In Canada, it is a criminal offence to unjustly hold anyone against their will through the use of threats, duress, force or the exhibition of force. This offence is called "forcible confinement" and is formally defined by the Criminal Code of Canada as depriving an individual of the liberty to move from one point to another by unlawfully confining, imprisoning or forcibly seizing that person.

1 The term "forcible confinement" also includes the offence of "kidnapping".

2 Kidnapping is similar to forcible confinement in that a person is held against their will, but it also involves the act of transporting the victim from one place to another. It is not possible to distinguish between these two offences from the data reported by police services; however, information from adult criminal courts shows the vast majority (94%) to be forcible confinement."
  • I bet he came up with that story after his wife found out he was somewhere he shouldn't have been. :D
  • Hi Gary,

It must have been a frightening experience.

I guess a smart phone might give a location.

I'm thinking of that idiot who let a drunk into his RV and his wife had to shotgun the dude and then he sued Wal-mart figuring they should have stopped the drunk, (No, they have no authority to do that, he eventually dropoped the case).

(not the only case I know of that's been dropped.. But well.. This one burns us).

If they had hooked to his rig... KA-BOOM and they would have been found quick.

Yes, that "something" is called kidnapping.

Was he sleeping with teh truck connected?

I guess so...just like folks in Rest Areas and Wal-Mart/shopping lots, etc.

Reads like they stole the whole rig ..trailer/truck and him.
