When we came down from a water fall and headed to our truck I noticed a car with a CA license plate with a frame that had the name of town we had lived in.
We were in WI and curious so we hung around to see who came to the car.
YEP.....we knew them. They were a couple that lived just down the road and we had been to several neighborhood pot lucks with them
When visiting the area of MS where my Dad's side of family came from I needed to have a small weld job done. Drove over to Brookhaven to a weld shop.
Foreman directed me to one off the bays and told 'Don' to take care of us.
As Don was setting up he noticed our SD license plate and inquired. Told him about FTng and that kinfolks were from Gum Grove.
He smiled and asked........"Case, Posey or Phillips"
We were cousins....Ha ha ha
While in Brookhaven we went to local hardware store looking for a small space heating.
Older gentlemen behind counter showed us what they had in stock....as we were paying for it he said "I can tell you are not from here----where you be from?"
Explained about our FTng and why we were in the area.
Once again "Case, Posey or Phillips" was the question asked
He had worked with my Dad and Uncle for several years at the wire factory.
The three of them were buddies that hung out together until my Dad went west
Seems I could not swing a dead cat w/o hitting some relative/friend of family in that neck of the woods.
