I would not aide and abet the criminal conduct of the Jacksonville sheriff department or any other. The law is such that property is seized with the assumption that the individual is guilty and no warrant is needed or other outside review. The proceeds go the department and to the deputies so they have an incentive to grab people's property as they get the used of the property or can sell it at auction and this money goes into the department's slush fund.
This was commonplace in California and the officers were raking in more than $688 million each year until new regulations went into effect and put a stop to this thievery by the officers.

It is also why there are states where I would never take my RV as the police officers are out of control and proud of it.
