Jeep Compass as a toad

I have ordered base plates so that I can tow my Compass behind my Granite Ridge. Does anyone else tow a Compass? My owners manual said that it was not towable, but in recent communications with Jeep, they told me that the manual was wrong and the Compass is towable. It is 4WD with a 5 speed transmission. To unlock the steering wheel, the key needs to be in the Acc. position. This turns on the fan and other electronics. I think that it would kill the battery. Do you pull a fuse or disconnect the battery. If I disconnect the battery, my brake will not work. Thanks for your help.
  • I would look into it with my dealer. When I bought my Liberty they told me the Patriot couldn't be flat towed and I think the Compass is the same as the Patriot?
  • I do not tow a Compass, but I do own a Jeep. If you pay attention to radio, cabin vent fan, etc. and make sure you turn all such stuff off, the electronics that are still on will take several days to drain the battery. Being 4WD, you should be able to put the transfer case in neutral and tow it 4 down. If the tranny is automatic (my Liberty has a 5 speed auto tranny), keep that in park. If you have a manual transmission, those usually don't require anything special, such as neutral in the transfer case.
