In answer to your 2nd question, No it doesn't matter between 2WD and 4x4 as long as they are manual transmissions. We tried to find a 4x4 5 speed as our first choice but there we none available. If we wanted one we had to special order it and accept delivery in 6-9 months, the cost of course goes up and up with anything special order. If you can find a 5 speed 4x4 new or otherwise great! Just a note the fwd is quite capable in snow and inclement weather.
Also, the new vehicles (ie) 2014 we had to wait 3 months to get the proper (blue ox) base plate as they were not in stock and had to be made. The 2014 had a redesign in the front frame and accessory mounting location from previous years. So take this into account if you plan to tow it right away or can wait for the proper set up to be ordered and delivered be it blue ox or roadmaster etc. etc..
