I had a CJ7 with stock suspension and rims. We drove it around Maine’s frost damaged backroads for about a month and mutually agreed to get a better ride when we changed rides. The dogs didn’t want to get in a few times.
Then we went for a Jeep TJ. Much more civilized and it was fine on highways but would still beat you on rough roads.
Then we switched to Honda CRVs and Elements which are better on rough roads but would like to drive a few other brands when it’s time to change.
