Jensen Radio

My 2008 Coachmen Class C has a Jensen radio,cd player, satellite radio and back up camera. Most of the time the radio functions fine but some times the you can't get the volume to go up. We have tried the reset button but no luck.

We don't use the satellite function. The back up camera works fine.

Tomorrow the volume may work fine but today we couldn't hear the CD or the radio over the road noise.

Any hints or ideas. I may look into a new one

Thanks!

  • I don't know which is better, Jensen or Concertone. It would be nice if Sony had an audio head that fit the general from factor I see in RVs, preferably with Bluetooth, Blu-Ray, and other modern niceties.
  • I bought my used truck camper with a dead Jensen single knob radio, DVD, etc. called Jensen to see if they did service work and was told no, they just replaced the units under warrantee with new units. Found they had replaced the one knob units with a two knob model..I found one on eBay and bought it. It was just a plug and play swap with the old radio. So far I have gotten about two years out of he replacement radio.

Just to clarify My JENSEN model JCD2006 in my OFF-ROAD POPUP is a stand alone regular AM/FM CAR RADIO type not a built-in model with a whole bunch of other things like DVDs sound system etc... I know this is nothing like what you are dealing with radio wise. Probably a big difference if it is part of a whole integrated entertainment system... My main comment was about how my F150 integrated VIDEO Screen and SOUND operated when being used. Thought it might have some reference to your problems with your sound dropping out.

My JENSON operated this way works fine for me... The ANTENNA is a simple rubber flexable whip type antenna mounted on the rear side of the popup main box area..

The only problem I had with mine was the way it was original wired in with just both 12VDC lead and ignition wire 12VDC wired together. I separated them and added a Radio Shack Push Button slide switch to the side of the radio install which acts like the key ignition switch in a car/truck install and now I just leave the main JENSEN ON/OFF ON all the time and turn the radio ON and OFF by using the slide switch. This allows me to keep all of my PRESETs in tact.

Of course if I store for awhile I will go ahead and shut down the whole the whole radio to keep from adding to the trailer parasitic power drains.
  • I have a 2008 Travel Trailer (see my sig) with an extended warranty. In four years I have had five Jensen's in the rig. Warranty runs out this month and if I replace it again on my nickel it won't be a Jensen.
  • Thanks for the comments. My camera was off and I was going forward down the highway. I have never noticed any back up alarm with mine. wish I had that option. We had just ejected a disk and put in another one and the volume was considerably lowered. We tried to turn it up but it wouldn't go any higher. It will probably be fine tomorrow.

My ford truck built-in rear view camera always reduces the audio to almost nothing when I go to reverse and the rear view comes on. Not knowing anything about your system this may have have something to do with your reduced audio.

My rear view camera system has distance markers which beep. The closer you get to something the faster the beeps. This is the reason all other audio features get reduced so you can hear the beeps. ???

My Jensen radio in my OFF-ROAD POPUP works just fine - Nice and loud...

    Just making comments???

  • Is there a brand I should consider above others? Will another brand be compatible with my built in back-up camera screen?

    Thanks
  • Jensen RV radios are sad replace it with name brand. Doesn't have to be high, still will be better.
