Who said anything about wanting "the old timer "camping" feel"? I think that might be reading between the lines a bit. Wanting the area to be less lit up than Times Square is a long way from "the old timer "camping" feel".
I am with you :B
I have a set of picnic lights (hamburger/hotdog/mustard/ketchup) that I hook to the front of the awning. Just enough light to hopefully keep people from walking in to the awning arms. I don't want to need a flashlight just to go from the fire ring to the fridge for another, ahhhhhh, beverage. I clean up after myself, and don't need to dodge that **** I left laying about all day. I expect to trip over the odd tree root, so I have learned to walk gingerly in the dark.
My point is that
others do
not go camping for the out-doory, in the woods---yeah it is dark out here----experience. Many can care less if they hear the creek babbling, while star-gazing at the warmth of the fire.
I am not sure WHY they go "RVing", but they do. I am not sure why they go to a place in the dark, if they expect it to be lit up like time square, but they do.
Then again---I am not sure why people go to a campground and complain about camp fire smoke. I don't understand why someone will go to a place that advertises all the "amentities" for "family time", then complains there are kids running about.
Modest light---modesty noise---respect for others. It is what I do.
It would be NICE if others keep their noise, light
and BACON smells to their site, BUT.....
So I prefer smaller CG's, with active owners, and a respectful clientele. I avoid the "we are near EVERYTHING" CGs. When that becomes over-bearing for my cranky-oldman, self-righteous, self. I guess I will give up full hook-ups, and learn to boondock.
