I have and use a 16' LED strip on my awing; it's very bright, and I love it since when I'm cooking and prepping outside, I want to SEE what I'm burning! I also have an inline dimmer switch on it and turn it down when I don't need the full brightness, and I always turn it off at night when we retire.
Campfire smoke? Hey, sometimes campfires smoke (ya think?). In fact I don't think that I've ever, in my 54 years of camping, sat around a wood campfire that at least one or two people (on the dreaded downwind side) weren't getting smoke in their eyes. I don't care how good of a boy scout you think you are, campfires put out smoke. Show me someone who claims that they can build a campfire that doesn't and I'll show you a liar. As long as I'm not piling green pine needles on it, get over it.
Point is, any large, full amenity campground is not "camping" in the true sense of the word anyway. If you want peace, quiet and darkness, boondock (which we mostly do). If you want full hookups for your massive Class A or 5er along with all the amenities, then don't complain about the noise/light, etc. It is impossible for anyone's activities to not "bother" someone that's camped just 10-12' away if that person is looking to be bothered or their idea of "camping" doesn't match their neighbor's. Most campgrounds have quiet time; call the rangers if you have a problem, but remember, while your neighbor may not be the only ones in the campground, neither are you.
