As far as I'm concerned, you can do whatever you like within the boundaries of your campsite. Once your light, sound, smoke or odor crosses the boundaries of your site, it becomes the community's problem... and if you're not concerned about your impact on the community, then your mama didn't raise you right.
That's why the have laws and rules, so you don't cause a "community" problem. So if you don't like the rules (or non-rules) in the campground, you need to find a new campground. If you can't find a campground with rules that work for you, maybe you're the problem.
