Just a day in a life...

If I’m getting gas I just pull in where I fit and can get out. I don’t treat myself like a big rig, just a truck pulling a trailer. Haven’t had an issue in 15 years!

I look for the higher priced places just so I can avoid such confusion and frustration. Frankly I'm so tired of not so nice of people that all I want to do is avoid places like that. If it is popular I'm thankful it's there to attract the mob, so they stay away from my places.

I didn't think there was a filling station anywhere in the USA that still allowed you to pump fuel before paying. None I've found anyways.

Here's why I don't move more. Many years ago, my fishing buddy and I were heading out for our annual summer vacation. We each had a long bed supercab with a big camper, and I was also towing a 14' aluminum boat. We stopped to gas up. Since the two of us basically took up all the islands, and it was 8 am, once I put 36 gallons of gas in the truck, and 6 gallons in the boat tank, I thought I would be nice and move my truck since I was occupying about 4 pumps. My daughter and my buddy's girlfriend were in the buying stuff. As I pulled away, the cashier freaked out and starting screaming, "that guy is driving off without paying', my buddy's girlfriend said, 'no, he's moving his truck, this is his daughter, I promise you, he's not leaving her behind", and my daughter was saying, "he's not leaving, I'm still here, he's just moving the truck.", the Cashier was so freaked out, she hit some button that cleared the pumps. When I got inside, the manager was yelling at me for trying to steal gas, bottom line, because the cashier hit the clear button, they were quite disappointed I was actually standing there with my credit card trying to pay, they would have preferred to have me drive off so they could report it as a theft, since it took some brainwork to figure out what I owed. Since then, I don't move my vehicle til I've paid.

Sometimes wife and I argue over the issue but I've pretty much stopped going much out of my way to try to save pennies or even a few dollars especially when on the road with our 30 ft. MH. Gas is a good example. One time we get the high price but down the road it might be low next fill. Small change compared to the depreciation of an RV.

Sounds more like Flying J is sub-par with non-working equipment

I would not park my car in the RV (or truck) lane. The OP was talking about the car parking in the RV lane.

I was thinking the same sort of thing. Time consuming frustrating yes, but be grateful...You don't have to look far too realize things good be much worse ...
Just being able to own an RV is a blessing....

Yes - life is just to short to get upset at a gas station.

When I was in line at the grocery store tonight, the lady in front of me told the cashier that they "buried her 9 year old granddaughter today, she was sick two days and up and died", sometimes when we get frustrated, we just need to sit back and take a deep breath and ponder how serious it really is...
