Just Venting

I had the most awesome trip planned for this year. We were going to leave in Feb and head south and then west and then make a big loop. Well, life happened and we couldn't go. Now my husband is saying maybe in a couple of years.

I know what that means. Never. What is the point of owning an RV and having it sit in your yard. Its not even nice Yard Art.

Sounds like more serious underlying issues than 'life happens.' There is no point of having an RV as yard art, but unfortunately many do.

I think that is a question you should be asking your husband. We could all give you an answer but the only answer that counts will be his. Talk to him, maybe there is some underlying issue you are not aware of.
  • I suspect that, like most of us, you've never approached your own home town or state as a tourist attraction. Because we live here, we can go any time, we just never do. I've lived in Cincinnati all my life (67 yrs) and there are sights I've never seen and things I've never done right here in this city. Just Google "(state name/city name) tourism". I created a tab for each state and refer to it when planning any trip.
Every state has a vested ($$$) interest in tourists.
  • Also sorry your plans fell thru. We haven't been able to take our long trip either. But we have taken a few short trips Most to a friends campground an hour away and others to a state park just 10 miles away. No way will we sit and look at the camper unless we are in sickbed.(That has happened)
  • Sorry to hear your trip was postponed.... We take a long (for us) trip once or twice a year. We do try to go once a month to an instate state park for 3-5 days. The last thing I want is to sit and watch the RV rot in my driveway.

I purposely park it there as I can see it daily from my easy chair.
  • I feel for you. We had several trips planned for this next couple of months and now had to cancel. I took a bad fall 2 wks ago and have 3 fractures in 3 vertebrae's. Life happens and sometimes it really sucks. In the meantime I sit and look outside at 5ver in the yard and can do nothing but hope I heal quickly. Our fulltime goal is May 1st 2014. Hoping to keep that plan.
Try to get in as many short trips as you can
    Ok now I vented too.
Be safe and happy travels...short or long :)

  • Sorry to hear about the trip cancelation.

I'd 2nd the suggestion to take some short trips in the meantime. We found a county park 20 minutes from my house. Once you're in the park and set-up you couldn't tell if you were 10 miles or 1,000 miles away from home. Actually it was weird leaving the park after three days and upon exiting the grounds being on a major roadway only a few minutes from home but while we were there it was the same camping experience we enjoy every time we get away.
  • Sorry about your disappoint. Maybe a few shorter trips might help. It looks like this happened 6 months ago and is still weighing heavy on your mind. Hopefully you can talk it over with your husband and come up with some type of definite plan for a trip that would make you feel better.
  • I understand....Life issues can certainly be a pain and they seem to occur at the worst times.
