Keeping Bugs Out

We have the pest control guy spray ours when they do the house. Keeps the crawlers out.

RV bug screening mesh is too large for no-see-ums. You would have to replace all of your present screens with the fine mesh which is in most good tents.

When we are are in our tiny tent and there are no-see-ums inside ,it takes a bit of time with the flashlight at night to kill them all as they are tiny and crafty. Your RV is a castle compared to a small tent. Very hard to get rid of them especially if they can keep coming in through the screens.

Their bites are itchy and their constant buzzy around your face equals no sleep.

Caveman, that is quite a routine before bed.

Recently we use a "bug strip" which puts out a smell that bugs hate. We hang it outside the door. It is not safe to put it inside. We get the strong version from the bug killer man who sprays our home; the weaker version from HomeDepot. It seems to work a little. But I still get bit by the South Texas "no-see-ums".

I get invaded by small bugs that can get in through the screen or any small opening. The usually only come out at night so I keep the lights inside off after dark and it cuts down on the number that get in. Before I'm ready for bed I will close the windows and door and then turn on one over head light for a few minutes and this attracts them. Then I spray toward the light with a small shot of "Dairy Barn" insect killer, turn off the lights, and go outside for half hour or so. By the time I get in they are all dead, I use a flashlight and open a window or two, and then I jump quickly into bed .

We have had the no-see-ums invade the trailer, too. They are so small that they just come through the screen. The lights inside the trailer attract them. Nothing we have found that helps other than shutting the windows.

We will have to try the Listerine treatment once it warms up enough to get the trailer on the road.

Close the door and windows.

Bugs are part of life in the woods. Camping may not be for you if you loathe bugs.

That being said, what do you mean "you got invaded last night?" By what??? Mosquitos? Stink bugs? And where are you, South Carolina? Arizona? Florida?

And how did they get inside in such vast numbers that you consider you were invaded?

Do be aware that some places on this continent there are insects that are so pervasive that there is nothing you can do to avoid them except not going there. Mosquitos at the beach, for example. Or stink bugs in the mid-atlantic.

And the latter (just as an example) are pretty much immune to any chemicals that wouldn't kill you, too. All you can do is keep the door and window screens on and hope for the best.

Incidentally, one place flying insects might enter that people don't think about is the stove vent. If the little flap doesn't close completely when the fan is off, the'll fly right in, there being no screen there.

lots of luck with that. I try to keep things closed as best we can, and I am always getting the stink bugs in here.
