I put a few "blue ice" containers in there, two in the fridge and two in the freezer. Once a day, I switch them. That seems to keep things more stable, temp wise.....but I might just be kidding myself too.
Mine seems to work much better on propane too. Seems odd.
You are correct on both counts.
The propane flame is hotter than the electric heating element which makes the ammonia cycle faster.
The blue ice containers are effectively "cold" sinks that will help keep temps from fluctuating.
