Key west Fla.

We are going to the Keys for my retirement trip. What are some of the places to make sure we don't miss? We are staying at Sugar Loaf Key K.O.A. I turn 65 in March ,we are going in mid March!

  • Just across the bridge east of Key West, three is a little pace on the right that does kayak tours. My son and I did it and it was a lot of fun, and a good way to see something other than bars and tourist shops.
  • Mallory Square that is the place.
Retirement trips only happen once. Many trips are worth the dollars. Save money along the way using Forest service, COE, TVA and national park campgrounds
I am cheap but when it comes to nice locations, I have the dollars.

Good luck the KOA was one of the most expensive 93.00 (in 2011)- all I could get was a water and electric site in the Mangrove area - avoid this at all costs. Tightest campgrounds I have ever stayed in and I like KOA's. I could not even put out my awning it was so narrow.

See if you can get into Bluewater Key it is great - but it too is expensive but worth it.

The Sunset party at Key West

That is actually at Mallory Square, the craziness of Duval St. Spend a day and go to Fort Jefferson aka Dry Tortuggas. It is a day trip on a fast boat with a great place to swim or snorkel. Then there is the fort! Millions of bricks all hauled in on sailing schooners.
Wake early and go to the east side and watch sun rise, before going to Sunset.
  • Snorkeling trip out of Robbies !........we may be down there around that time period also, soooooooo don't miss out on buying me a couple of drinks....LOL.

Congradulations on the retirement and enjoy your Keys trip!
