Mine didn't settle. I used it as a precaution after a suspension failure had my tire rubbing on the wood box of the trailer. The wood was smoking really good, but luckily no flame had caught.
It unsnapped from it's little holder by the door. I pulled the pin and hosed the wheel well and tire down just fine. Didn't have to shake it or bang on it.
Replaced it with another dry powder extinguisher. Also have a larger steel CO2 type in the truck's tool box.
