We spent about 5 hours looking at all the different brands and types and I was really amazed to find the amount of defects and general poor workmanship.
I suspect the OP and his family did not spend much time in the Prevost and Airstream section of the RV show if those companies were there. Half million dollar motorhomes and trailers that don't have engines or transmissions that cost more than $100,000 provides a very stark contrast to what quality can really cost in an RV. You can have as much quality as you want in an RV, but you are going to open the check book wide. As others have said the standard box RV is dictated by sales and that is from buyers that don't want to spend much. And that is what they get for their money--not much!
