Latex Mattress - Anyone have one?

Thank you so much for all the info. It's helped us decide. I've read through all the info posted here and found only good reviews posted for natural latex on here and bed reviews online, too. We'll be ordering the 7" latex mattress tomorrow.

Actually it's a 9" standard latex mattress and they will cut 2" off of it. The quoted price was under $600. If that sounds pricey... I don't feel it is. I pay $45 for every chiropractor visit I need after a week on that old whacky mattress. I'll be glad to see it leave.

Thanks for the lead on the latex mattress at Wal-Mart but 7" thick is the very most we can go... and we will need help getting the old mattress out of the truck camper and the new one put into place so we'll take advantage of having it delivered to us by the mattress store.

As far as weight... I think we'll be about even when we take the layers upon layers of stuff out that we have piled on the old mattress to make it half way comfortable.

Many people "think" they're allergic to Latex, but a pin-test at a dermatologist may show the culprit is a couple dozen organic compounds used as mold release agents to speed throughput.

We have had a latex mattress for over ten years in the bedroom. They are really nice, but it is also very heavy. See how much it weighs in comparison.

I purchased an 8" Cool Sensations (Spa Sensations) from Walmart for $200 to put in our 5'er. We LOVE it and would NEVER go back to an inner spring mattress. It is as comfy, if not more, than our Tempurpedic that we bought a few years ago for our S&B. And, it was 1/10th the cost.

Best $$ we spent on our RV.

It is about 7 1/2" tall, so it might work for you.

I have two latex mattresses, main and guest, in the house. They are far more comfortable than my old memory foam, do not leave a body imprint and are much cooler. I will never go back to memory foam.

I bought a memory foam type on line through Sears. It came the correct size is super comfy. Next home matt will be the same.

Our 100% latex foam mattress only lasted 40 years. DW is latex sensitive. I've recently replaced all of my mattress's with these. All are on a plywood base and I'd say these are medium firm. Comes in a 16" square tube and expands to full size in two days. Have not seen them this cheap in two years. Go for it... you'll like it.:B

Just to confirm comment above that thicker memory foam is firmer if you buy. This statement is not true. A little education for all. Foam is generally classified by density and firmness. Density (weight) of foam is measured in how much a 1 cubic foot block weighs. Good regular foam is usually 2 lb and up while memory foam like some of the Tempur we sell in retail are 3lb and high end 7lb cube foot. The heavier the density the better quality the foam. Saying that beware some mfg cheat and add fillers to make the density higher but good quality is without and accurate. ILD is the firmness of the foam. They use a 1lb hockey puck looking measuring device and measure how far it protrudes into the foam. You can potentially have a 7 lb foam very soft or very hard and vice versa like a cheap foam that is hard or soft depending on the recipe when they make it. Hopefully that clears that up so no one gets confused on foams as the story can sometimes be spun backwards and sideways to how the story works. Get a good density and the softness based on your personal level of comfort and you will be a happier sleeper.

Latex mattresses have been the bigger seller than coil beds in Europe for years. We are way behind in the bedding market in North America as far as advancements in foam/rubber bedding. Been in the industry for 20 years and always laugh when you see something new here that has been out there for 20 years overseas and we are just catching on. Look at all the Tempur and other foam that has been catching on. It has been around forever but only here for the last 5-10 years and is still a small part of our market but growing.

Yes, allergy sufferers need not worry due to how these are made. No proteins to cause reaction. Just bought one for the home, next will be for the 5er. Prior to, had never slept on one, but was the most comfortable bed in all the shops we visited. Do not like memory foam due to the imprint you make in it, that takes time to rebound when changing positions. I wake up a lot with those. What I love about my new mattress is that there is no "NEW SMELL" or off gassing odors like with a traditional mattress or other new furniture for that matter. I bought mine from a local mattress wholesaler that did not pressure me into this type of bedding, but just showed us trends in the market. We researched for over 3 weeks before purchasing, both at other stores and online. We love the latex. Now, just waiting for one for the camper. Here is a link to the one we have(Firm one)! You can find memory foam mattresses from 6"-11" deep. Better if you can find one with gel (cooler)
we bought the www.bedinabox.com RV queen 11" with gel and are extremely happy with it.
