- LwiddisExplorer IIABC, NBC and CBS concur. Looks scary. I’d be driving north.
- SAR_TrackerExplorerWhy wait?
- RetiredRealtorRExplorerA better question would be is anyone NOT leaving the gulf coast? Cat 4's are deadly serious storms.
- RobWNYExplorerI can't believe you're even asking this question. Get out while you can.
- magnusfideExplorer IIBottom line: if any category hurricane is predicted to impact your area, bug out, get out, evacuate, vamoose. Storm surge is a killer. The disasters of Harvey should still be fresh in the memories of Texans.
The storm surge for Laura is expected to be at 20 feet in some areas. That's 14-15 feet above the average person's head.
Did I mention that everyone should get out? - bukhrnExplorer III

Did I mention that everyone should get out? - bgumExplorerTime to activate the Cajun navy since some people just can't get out and others won't get out.

I live 250 miles north of expected landfall region. I'm just asking to make some aware. I saw last night that lots of hotels north of Lufkin were allready full. There are quite a few RV parks up my way with spots today. - FrankoTooExplorer IIMost counties in the impacted areas ordered mandatory evacuations starting yesterday morning. Last night on the news they said if you hadn't left already, it's probably too late. Safe travels to those on the road.
- down_homeExplorer IIDuring the last hurricanes motels were booked up in our part of southern Tennessee...and likely elsewhere. A lot of people along the coast and everyone headed north needs to make reservations at RV Parks or motels, anywhere near an Interstate and possibly many miles either side of the Interstates ormajor roads.
