I read a lot here and have learn a ton of stuff! But sometimes you'll remember your mistakes. I don't camp a lot during the heat of the summer here in Texas, but some times, you gotta do what you gotta do!Anyway, my DD and her hubby wanted to go camping with us (first time for hubby to go with us)! DD is expecting and I wanted to try and make her comfortable. She wanted to bake a froze pizza, well when you don't really think things thru, I'm firing up the oven! About half way to being done, I just sit and watch the temp rise! No, not in the oven, inside the camper. Started about 77 and watch it climb right on to about 86. Lucky for us it wasn't one of those really HOT days! I informed DW that there will be no more oven use during the summer, unless we are at 8000 feet!

We have a large toaster oven and bake outside when the weather is warm. RV ovens are typically so small that you don't lose much capacity from a toaster oven.

We do not use ours much during hot weather, but do always run the vent over the range to get most of the hot air out when we do.

We bake our pizzas on the grill when on the road or at home. We also like cooking as much outside when traveling along with keeping the heat outside it keeps a lot of the smells from lingering inside the RV.

Pizza on the grill seems like a great idea! And I can test that at home. Do you put the pizza on a pizza stone? or what?

Also thinking about getting a cast iron skillet to use on the grill for bacon and eggs!

BB_TX, I didn't know if it would pull out more heat or some of my precious cool air! If I'm stupid enough to do it again, I'll give that a shot!

rseymour21.....We have a rectangular tray, much like a cookie sheet with handles that we use on our BBQ. We can cook bacon, eggs or anything else that would normally fall through the grates. Works great, even on the little Weber. You can get them at most outdoor, camping supply stores. Just spray a little oil or Pam on and it cleans with no trouble.

tell me about it, we fired up our oven for some frozen french fries, holy cow, it almost cooked me out of the camper.

WOW, that is wild you watched it go from 77 to 86. Whew!!

leaving on beach trip tomorrow.

not one oven food is planned :) no way I am firing up that sucker!

BBQ will be used alot along with micro for fast heating. other than that, anything to keep the 5'ver cool is needed.
