LED Strip Lights Under Awning

I know many of you have already installed LED strip lights under your awnings. I plan to install mine this weekend. I had one quick question. Did you use anything to hold the strip besides the 3M tape that comes on it? If yes, what did you use and how did you put it on? Has it worked (in other words, you didn't lose the strip lights going down the highway)? Thanks in advance for any help.
  • If you're using the LED lights off amazon that come from 'overseas', I've heard several people say that the tape supplied with the strip doesn't hold very well.

As a workaround, I've heard people using black silicone to hold the strip in place, but when all else fails, there's always 3M VHB tape.

I picked up some 3M Extreme Mounting tape that says it's suitable for indoor or outdoor use, but haven't had a chance to install my LEDs yet, so I can't speak to it's suitability.
  • Cant speak to my own awning application, but my dad has had a strip under the awning on his motorhome for two years now without it coming off.

I added a strip under my camper that I did reinforce just in case, but the adhesive hasn't failed under there either.
