Awning LED strip lights.

Howdy...
Search didn't turn up much, though I know I've seen posts about adding LED strip lights to awnings. Lots of new rigs come with them, but I'm not ready to buy a new rig yet.

What I'm looking for is strip lights to add tot he rail that's bolted to the side of the trail, which holds the awning fabric in place.

Looking for ideas and what others have done. I'm thinking I'd like amber or warm white. The cool white might be a tad bright at night.
  • should be a ton of search results for this mod, it's super common.

I agree the cool white strips that are factory installed on many rigs (cool white is the cheapest white) look really sterile, especially at night. go with warm white or rgb+warm white. you can use white for after dark setup / tear down, or yellow / orange / red for an easy on the eyes night light effect, etc etc.

brightness is easy. the aftermarket strips come with a controller, you set the brightness to whatever you want.

Should be an easy item to search for but I had very little success when using:
    awning led light
    awning led strip
    awning led

    and a few others.
  • I have an electric awning, and can run the wires parallel to the awning power leads, and through the same hole in the wall.

time to hit up Amazon I suppose.
  • On Ebay they sell 17ft strips on rolls with IR remote for $35-40. Not the highest quality stuff but it works and is cut to length. One tip make sure the underside surface you are adhering the strip to is squeaky clean (Acetone) and do it on a warm day. The tape on the backside is not that great so prep is important.

I bought the multi-color one. Kids get a kick out of it.

I did exactly that, small hole under the molding strip into a cabinet, then 12v and the remote, works, looks great. I just went with white but the remote let's you dim it. I really like it and it was super easy to install. By doing it that way you can use the lights with the awning in or out.
