A good number of the young and younger people I know camp. Most backpack into wilderness areas in the U.S., others travel to Europe and or Mexico and camp.
I know very few who are attracted to organized campgrounds.
The lack of visibility does not mean they are not out there and, in most case, just means they are camping primatively, remotely, and under the radar of RVers.
When I was younger, and if I was not now limited physically, I was, and still would be out there right along with them.
