Less Young People Camping?

Many years ago my fater told me that people don't have a problem with the high cost of living, they have a problem with the cost of living high.
We had 1 phone on the wall, 1 TV in the house, black & white, seldom went on vacation anywhere, 1 car, very seldom went out for a meal, mother did not 'work'. I don't recall missing anything.
Today there 4 TVs, 3 computers, I this that & the other, we took the kids, when kids, on 1 2 week trip a year, both of us worked, owned boats since 1981, still 1 car for the household, still seldom go out to eat &, oh yeah, there is that RV that gets used 5 months a year.
Our grown kids have decent jobs but the pay is not what it used to be.
In CGs, maybe it is our traveling habits, but with the exception of weekends CGs do not seem to be overrun by familys. We look in carparks & our 06 truck is old compared to what most seem to be driving, everyone has the latest & greatest smartphone that they have their heads buried into, the latest in clothing, the restaurants are busy & people seem to be traveling all over & cruising.
So, what is it? Less money for camping or more recreation options to spend the money on?
