On my street here in Alberta, Canada 7 of the 11 residents have a an RV of some sort and we are all in the 30 to 45 year old range. All of us though have careers in the oilfield here in western Canada and are fortuante to have tow vehicles as daily drivers and the ability to afford an RV.
During our short summer it can be quite a struggle in being able to get the good camping spots because of the amount of people out camping. Some spots tend to draw more "seasoned" campers where as other places draw the younger crowds.
I think younger families are starting to see the value in camping for a vacation rather than jetsetting/cruising vacations. I am fortunate to be able to do both and a week in Hawaii for my family costs the same as if we were to go on a 6 week/6000km excursions that we have gone on the last few summers. If it was up to me I would just camp for my vacation cause its more cost effective.
But I am from Canada and my family needs a week in the sun during our cold winters.
