Age is subjective. What are you calling young? I am 40 and consider myself young. We bought our home with cash 7.5 years ago. We own both cars out right. We home school our 10 and 12 year old. I own my own business and work less than 40 hours a week.
I don't make 6 figures, not even close. We spend about 8 - 12 weeks camping throughout the year. We go to Disney usually twice a year, but haven't been to a park in 3 years (although we will be going in September).
We have 1 TV in our house (we take the MH's TV out), however we don't have TV service, haven't since we bought this house. Everyone in the house has a computer. I am the only one with a smartphone, my wife has a tracfone. No iPhone's, iPad's, iPods, etc. We do have one original Kindle and my wife has a MP3 player.
With the exception of Fort Wilderness, we don't usually see younger campers during the week when we camp. We usually aren't at campgrounds on the weekends, but when we are, that's when we see them. Last year we started doing a 1 month rental at a campground near family in Southern NJ. Most likely we will turn it into a summer seasonal thing in the near future.
When we went to the Tampa RV show on Thursday, I'm pretty sure we were the youngest people in the place. It was definitely a geriatric-fest. I'm sure it was different on the weekend. A lot of vendors commented on the kids at the show during the week.
When I was growing up, mom was a stay at home mom and dad worked. Except the summers, we didn't do anything during the week. We were in school. I think we were a pretty typical family growing up.
The sports might impact vacations a little, but it's school that impacts younger family's ability to camp/vacation. You can't just take the kids out of school for a week or weeks at a time to go on vacation. We can live our lifestyle because we home school and I work from where ever I can plug my laptop and MH in.
