Don't know about log trucks on Olympic Peninsula, but most truck drivers still give me a "thank you." When I get passed on an uphill grade and the truck is just a little faster and is being followed by impatient four-wheelers, I flash my headlights, the signal that it is OK to change lanes, and I rarely fail to see a "thank you".
By the way, I was on the Olympic Peninsula last summer, and had a excellent and quite inexpensive salmon dinner at the restaurant on the waterfront at La Push, Washington. I think that it is only restaruant in town, so you can't miss it.
