Looking at buying a portable black tank - suggestions?

Check out the new Rhino totes. Bigger wheels (less noise) and all the attachments you need. I think they come in 3 sizes, something like 18, 27 and 35 gallon. Comes with a built-in ladder hook.

I'm with Trackrig on the rubber tires. Someone rolling their tote with plastic wheels early in the morning is somewhat annoying.

Grey water can smell every bit as bad as black water. That being said, we use the tanks sparingly when boondocking, and when we need to dump, I break camp and tow the trailer.

Instead of a sewer tote, a buddy of mine made a bladder that he uses a macerator pump that he pumps the waste water up into it. I liked the idea so much that I copied it and had one made. I can offload about 100g of water at a time. It’s nice because we can shower and run the clothing washer/dryer like we have sewer hookups. Plus, I empty my friends rigs as well.

I don't remember what brand we have, but get one with rubber pneumatic tires and not the hard plastic tires. The one with rubber tires roles much easier though still a pain to use.

We have a Thetford 27 gallon 4-wheel tote, and I'm able to pull it over moderately rough ground to get it to the back of the car for towing without any problems. The site we're on right now has a path through the trees to the dump station, so I just pull it the ~100 feet by hand. We stow it in the back of our toad between parks, and we've never noticed any smell from it.

I would never haul black water in a tote. I’d break camp first.

But as someone said, a black tank that size would last weeks.

I use a water hose to fill the tote so I don’t have move it full.

Fill it attached to the car.

I camped for 2 months one summer with no sewer hook up and toted the black water to a dump station in 35 gal tote as required.
All I can say after that experience is "never again!"
From here on it's full hookups always when camping for more than just a few days.

Get either the 32 or 42 Gal from Barker - be sure to get the pneumatic tires. I have an older Thetford 42 that I don't have any issues with - gray or black water. I'm sure you realize, but you just hook it to your trailer ball and tow it to the dump station. It's not a big deal to make more than one trip, and as stated, You may not have to dump the black at all.

I used an 18 gallon tote and it was heavy when filled I wouldn't have wanted any larger. I had my MH parked at my sisters place for 10 weeks. about 150' from the sewer cleanout so I couldn't hook up directly to the line. I dumped black and gray every Saturday for 10 weeks, I had a 42 gallon black and 42 gallon gray. I usually made about 4-5 trips to dump the weeks worth of stuff. A real pain.

Ditto, I can see packing away gray water, but not black water. I’d move the trailer to thedump station before hauling a load of &(&?!
