Looking for a Mr. Buddy Heater

That is one way to do it. If one runs a 2000 watt Honda, then a 1500 watt heater is a safe way of keeping warm. Vornadoes are decent because they can heat up a space throughly. Downside is that some RVs are made with cheap wiring and the inside wires may not be able to handle 1500 watts without burning out.

We never camp where we don't have electric. When it is cold we use a 1500 watt electric heater. Does a good job. If we are in really cold weather we run it all night and keeps us warm enough down to 40 deg. F.

I have a Big Buddy heater, and a Buddy heater. When I was tenting it and had a lot of drafts, the Buddy heater on a metal stand was fine.

In a RV, one needs to be aware of three points:

1: Proximity to flammable stuff. I nearly had to evacuate a festival once when someone had his heater too close to bedding, it caught. Thankfully the occupants got out OK, but the crater is still there from where the 16 ounce propane bottles exploded.

2: Ventilation. Even though the heater doesn't put out much in the way of carbon monoxide, when oxygen runs low, it will have a different fuel/air burn ratio, and that will cause CO to be made. Plus, do you want to trust your life to an O2 sensor made on the cheap in China? It doesn't take much ventilation. Of course, having at least two CO alarms (preferably with one alarm that shows parts per million) goes without saying.

3: Humidity. Propane puts out a wet heat. In a tent, this isn't that bad, but in an enclosed RV where humidity is the worst enemy of the building materials due to rot, ventilation is needed to expel the moisture.

Buddy heaters are good at what they do. A 20# bottle can run one on low for 100+ hours, and they don't run on battery power. I definitely keep one as a spare, but I make sure it has good ventilation, and a lot of space above and in front of the heater.

I have used the Mr Buddy single canister propane heater for years from my tent camping days to my present OFF-ROAD POPUP camping days. This is my BACK-UP heat source. I can get around 6 hours of heat with the lowest setting. I can also get almost a full cup of water that comes off of it haha... I set mine in raised edge tray. Fills the whole bottom up with water.

The Tents as well as my Tent POPUP trailer is probably the only place I would even think of using these type of heaters. They will deplete the oxygen inside the tent as well as emit dangerous propane fumes. It is a must do situation of having a vent immediately over the top of the heater when being used. Sort of goes against of having a heater if you have to have an open window or ceiling fan area which is where my Mr Buddy is close to in my POPUP. I crack the ceiling fan about two inches.

If I was permanently mounting something like this I would most definitely go with the vented CAT 5 type propane heaters.

I have two regular Mr Buddy Heaters and a large Mr Buddy Heater (which I almost never use). We often use one in our living room and basement office to take the chill off in the winter. My wife LOVES it. It will work VERY WELL for your intended purpose.

Of course it's important to observe the safety instructions and ensure that you maintain appropriate ventilation. With that said, I experimented with mine in my travel trailer. It would automatically shutoff before I could detect any changes in the air quality, and the CO alarm never even registered a thing. I would still not sleep with it running though.

If you want a portable unit the Buddy heater is great, you can move it were you want the heat. I use it for my wife to heat the bathroom up before taking a shower in the fall. One small tank will last a week. I don't run it at night and don't camp in the winter except for Az or Fl.

We use one of those as our primary heat source and have it plumbed to our 50 gallon coach tank. Been doing it for 8 years. We use non-serviced sites most of the time and the furnaces are battery killers. In cold weather it runs 24/7.
