Looking for inovative ideas for auxillary fuel tank???

I am looking for any options to use for an ecenomical way of adding a bed diesel tank for extended driving. I have used Gleaner combine tanks (100.00) in the past but now have a short bed and one of those tanks will not work.

Has anyone seen any creative recycling options to do this rather than buying a $1000.00 (TransferFlow etc) option to do this.

  • You can always watch for something on Craigslist. I picked up my nearly new 45 gal tank complete with 12v pump, filter, hose, and nozzle for $150 a few years ago.
  • Can get a new RDS 90 gallon tank from Northern tool for about $500.
  • I ain't sure what you are looking for but Tractor Supply and others sell many sizes for $250 and up . I have made 3 or 4 out of plywood and laid up with poxy and fabric , but it is cheaper to buy steel unless you need a weird shape !
  • Tractor Supply has a 30 gal tank that is about 14-15 inches thick and fits nicely up against the front wall of the truck bed. Think it was just over $200.00. Need to and for pump and/or plumbing.
  • I will be selling my F450 this summer which has a 50gal Transferflow diesel tank w/pump. $800 new, I'll take $250. I'm in WA.
