Strange. In SW Missouri-NE Oklahoma-NE Kansas area, if I look for rentals what I find are pop-ups and very small trailers. There is at least one dealer in each of the three states renting PUPs.
It must be something about regional markets, regional preferences. Most of the big national rental agencies offer C motorhomes, which yield good margins if you can keep them busy 4-6 months a year. Dealers doing rentals don't try to compete, they've gone for the budget niche. Maybe there is no budget nice in New England, though I'd think it an ideal location for pop-ups, no air conditioning needed.
Sorry for the late reply, trust me here in southern NE... it gets HOT!
Years ago, a couple towns over we had a small mom & pop rv dealership that rented popups and the like, but like many of the small community business in our area they closed shop.
